From November 2 to 4, 2006, the 7th Pacific-Rim Conference on Multimedia (PCM2006) was held at Zhejiang University, sponsored by College of Computer Science of the university. More than 150 representatives from all over the world attended the conference, and Academician Yunhe Pan, vice-president of Chinese Academy of Engineering, shouldered the conference chair.
    
    The conference featured with tutorials, keynotes, representations and workshops, and it focus on updated hotspot issues of multimedia data analysis, search, transmission and coding.
    
    At the conference, Dr. Yaqin Zhang, president of Microsoft's R&D Group in China, Professor Zuhan Chen from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, and Professor Ramesh Jain from University of California, Irvine, USA, gave keynotes, respectively.
    
    PCM2006 has received totally more than 750 papers, and finally accepted 116 papers(15 % rates), which will be published by Springer Press and cited by SCI.
